Hungarian Tuba Artist, Composer & Educator Roland Szentpáli is an internationally acclaimed tubist, composer, arranger and educator, celebrated for his extraordinary technique, musical breadth, and contributions to both performance and contemporary repertoire. 

Known for his versatility—from classical concert stages to jazz and contemporary music— he continues

to expand the expressive possibilities and repertoire of the tuba, inspiring audiences and fellow musicians alike

Szentpáli began his musical journey on the euphonium at age 12, switching to tuba a year later. He studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and further refined his craft with masterclasses alongside such luminaries as Roger Bobo, Mel Culbertson, Manfred Hoppert and Sam Pilafian. 

As a solo competitor, he has won numerous prestigious international prizes, including first prizes at the Lahti International Brass Competition (Finland), the International Performer’s Competition in Brno (Czech Republic)and the International Tuba Competition in Cheju (South Korea), among others. 

Sérgio Carolino has attended several master classes also with some the most acknowledged masters of today including Roger Bobo, Michel Godard, Pia Bücher, Philippe Legris, David Taylor, Øystein Baadsvik, Thierry Thibault, Mel Culbertson, Anne- Jelle Visser, Walter Hilgers, Enrique Crespo, and Gene Pokorny. 

Szentpáli is Principal Tuba of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, and his performing career spans solo recitals, orchestral appearances and chamber music collaborations across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. An active composer and arranger, his works encompass solo pieces, chamber music, orchestral compositions and concertos, many published by Editions BIM. He first attracted attention early in his career by composing and performing his own Tuba Concerto on live Hungarian television at age 16. 

In addition to performing, Szentpáli is dedicated to teaching and has given masterclasses and lectures worldwide. He holds academic positions including professorships at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, the Lucerne University of Music and as a guest professor in Ljubljana.
