Boris Andrianov is a renowned Russian cellist celebrated for his expressive artistry, technical mastery, and broad international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and festival director.

He studied at the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music, the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Natalia Shakhovskaya, and continued his training at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin with David Geringas.

Andrianov has won major international competitions—including first prizes at the Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in Zagreb, awards in Johannesburg, Hannover, Paris (Concours de violoncelle Rostropovitch), and South Korea (Isang Yun Competition)—and was a prize‑winner at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. In 2016 he was honored with the title Honored Artist of Russia.

He has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra, French National Orchestra and Russian National Orchestra under eminent conductors including Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Fedoseev and Gianandrea Noseda. Andrianov is equally active in chamber music, collaborating with artists like Yuri Bashmet, Menahem Pressler, Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Denis Matsuev and Maxim Vengerov.

His appearances span prestigious venues and festivals worldwide—Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Vienna’s Konzerthaus, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, Edinburgh, Ludwigsburg, Dubrovnik and more.

A dedicated champion of new music, Andrianov has premiered works by contemporary composers such as Giya Kancheli, Krzysztof Penderecki,

Giovanni Sollima, Michael Berkeley, and Pavel Karmanov. His discography includes recordings with guitarist Dmitry Illarionov (a Delos release long‑listed for a Grammy), acclaimed sonata albums with pianist Rem Urasin (Gramophone Editor’s Choice), and projects ranging from Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme to jazz‑inflected reflections on Bach.

Beyond performance, Andrianov is an influential artistic leader: he founded and directs the international Vivacello and Vivarte festivals in Moscow, leads the nationwide Star Generation and Musical Expedition projects promoting young musicians and musical outreach, and has been a professor at the

Moscow Conservatory since 2009.

He performs on a historic Carlo Bergonzi cello from the Russian State Collection of Unique Musical Instruments.
